| Type | 3-terminal adjustable positive (+) voltage linear regulator |
| Package | TO-220 (also SOT-223 and TO-263 versions) |
| Output voltage | 1.25 ~ 37V (set with two resistors) |
| Output current | 1.5A |
| Reference voltage | 1.25V (1.2 ~ 1.3V) |
| Input-output voltage differential | 3 ~ 40V (recommended operating range) |
| Line regulation | 0.01%/V (typ.) |
| Minimum load current | max 10mA (typ. 3.5mA, 40V input-output differential) |
| Protection | Current limit · thermal protection |
Values are from the Texas Instruments datasheet.
The heatsink tab is connected to the output (pin 2). Power loss is (input − output) × current, so a heatsink is needed when the voltage difference or current is large. With little or no load, draw the minimum load current (max 10mA) through a resistor.
